SALDANHA OPERATIONS
The primary function of the storage facility is the cost-effective and safe receipt, storage and distribution of strategic and commercial crude oil stocks.
- The facility consists of 6 in-ground concrete tanks with a capacity of 7,5 Million bbls each, and a total capacity of 45 Million bbls
- The storage terminal is linked to the jetty by an 8,3-kilometer pipeline.
- 2 tanks are dedicated for strategic reserves and the remaining 4 are used for commercial third party storage via tender and market process
MILNERTON OPERATIONS
- The facility consists of 39 Steel tanks, each with 200,000 barrels storage capacity
- A plan has been developed to make this tank farm commercially viable and position SFF for this opportunity as there is now a renewed interest in renting usage from oil speculators and traders to boost SFF’s revenue streams. This resulted in the refurbishing of the above ground tank project.
- Linked to Saldanha by pipeline managed jointly by Astron and SFF
OIL POLLUTION CONTROL & OGIES/EMALHLENI
SFF has oil pollution control facilities which minimizes any environmental risks during loading and unloading of oil tankers in Saldanha Bay.
SFF will lead the process of encouraging South Africa to adopt the Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation Convention and demonstrate that SFF Oil Pollution Services is capable of being the National Response Unit.
MONTAGUE GARDENS
- SFF acquired 50% of bpSA’s 100% owned Montague Gardens that stores finished products (Diesel, Petrol and Jet).
- The acquired terminal will be mainly used to supply and store diesel requirements for Eskom’s Ankerlig Power Plant.
- The terminal will also provide access to infrastructure to the Historical Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA’s), levelling the playing ground, allowing them to compete with the Oil Majors.
- The terminal is fully functional with SFF fully accessing and utilizing its 50% of the terminal capacity.
AVEDIA LPG TERMINAL
- In December 2022 the Competition Commission approved the 60% Acquisition of Avedia LPG Terminal in Saldanha.
- The acquisition of the asset was to be followed by the design and construction of an LPG Marine Loading Facility and its Auxiliary Pipeline to allow the terminal to receive LPG from vessels.
- This year SFF started the process of designing, construction and connecting of the LPG pipeline from the Saldanha Jetty (Berth 104) to the Avedia LPG Terminal.
- The Pipeline will allow the terminal to receive LPG safe and at low cost improving its financial sustainability whilst reducing costs to the consumer.
