POLICY STATEMENT
Key to SFF’s corporate objectives as a caring corporate citizen is to make a positive social impact in the lives of South Africans, especially to those disadvantaged communities that SFF conduct business operations in. SFF is committed to the empowerment, development and sustainability of disadvantaged communities and the environment through focused, coherent progressive and sustainable CSI programmes.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF SFF CSI PROGRAMMES:
- To position SFF as a responsible and caring corporate citizen that is socially accountable to its stakeholders, the environment and more importantly the disadvantaged communities in the geographical areas we operate in.
- To promote and enhance corporate citizenship behaviour amongst employees, brand loyalty, stewardship, as well as strengthening employee commitment and engagement through corporate wide participation in CSI initiatives.
SFF CSI FOCUS AREAS
The scope of SFF’s CSI focus areas is:
EDUCATION
Primary and secondary school Mathematics and Natural Science and other STEMI related learner support programmes. Science, life skills, skills development programmes, laboratory material and equipment. Training in order to improve the capacity of school management bodies at the funded schools.
To qualify for assistance, organizations and projects must:
Get the buy in of the Department of Basic Education. Projects to be implemented by organisation registered as Non- Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Development’s NPO Directorate and have Section 18(A) tax exemption status. A registered school with the Department of Basic Education Must be a well established school in existence for least two years Sound Financial report; The vulnerability of beneficiaries Must be a Sustainable project.
ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & ENERGY POVERTY
Environmental education programmes in deserving disadvantaged schools Environmental clean-up projects and initiatives Greening programmes which provide trees to schools and public parks Alleviation of energy poverty by investing in refurbishment and energy saving projects, communication campaigns and advice
To qualify for assistance, organizations and projects must:
Have a local municipality and or community support Provide proof of the sustainability of the project Focus on the disadvantaged communities Preference will be given to projects that provide education on environmental sustainability. At least two years of existence Sound Financial report; The vulnerability of beneficiaries Must be a Sustainable project.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Programmes and projects for the disabled Projects and initiatives aimed at disaster relief
To qualify for assistance, organizations and projects must:
Be registered with the Department of Basic Education Focus on disadvantaged communities Organizations other than schools must be registered with the Department of Social Development’s NPO Directorate and have Section 18(A) tax exemption status. At least two years of existence Sound Financial report; The vulnerability of beneficiaries Must be a Sustainable project.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Providing disadvantaged schools, at both primary and high school levels with computers and related information technology needs (equipment and learning material). Providing infrastructure such as information technology laboratories / centres for poor schools and community based organizations serving poor communities. Focus on disadvantaged communities
To qualify for assistance, organizations and projects must:
Be registered with the Department of Basic Education in case of a school Organizations other than schools must be registered with the Department of Social Development’s NPO Directorate and have Section 18(A) tax exemption status. At least two years of existence Sound Financial report; The vulnerability of beneficiaries Must be a Sustainable project.
SOCIAL AWARENESS PROJECTS
Awareness of community related social ills such as substance abuse, rape victims and gender- based violence Support groups that aim at capacitating people that are affected by the stated social ills. Training of support givers
To qualify for assistance, organizations and projects must:
Be registered with the Department of Social Development's NPO Directorate and have Section 18(A) tax exemption status At least two years of existence Sound Financial report; The vulnerability of beneficiaries Must be a Sustainable project.
